Feldstaerke International
Paris, France January 2009
CENTQUATRE, 19th District

I have been selected to represent the film school at CalArts in an International Arts Exchange with CENTQUATRE, (Paris, France) and PACT Zollverein (Essen, Germany) in which we spend 8 days working together (50 art students) in the three different locations. The first location was Paris, France where I worked with a group of 3 French students and 1 German. We came up with the idea of how to "meet the number 104". I created a sculpture of 104/132 chairs which explores the fact that 104 is not a natural number that occurs by itself, it is always part of a sequence of a number greater than itsself, it is never the final number.

We also visited a small town outside of Paris with the zip code 10400 and meet with the Mayor at 1:04pm. He was very excited about our project and agreed to be the ambassador of our project. We hitch hiked there and back from the train station which upon first attempt was a bit dicy--when we were stuck on the side of the road for over 40 minutes in 0 degree weather!!
